Slay Event Management and Consulting dba SLAY Events was founded in 1999 by Principal, Missy Slay. SLAY Events has experience producing award-winning events including national sporting events, musical and lifestyle events ranging from 10,000- 150,000 attendees, concerts with Grammy award-winning artists, community walks/runs and corporate and charitable meetings, galas and weddings.

At SLAY Events, we are committed to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience for you, your family, friends, and your guests. With over two decades of experience in producing weddings, we provide a team of creative partners to ensure that each moment of the planning from the very beginning stages to the post-event details would be taken care of with a flawless approach and a fairytale ending. Since every wedding is unique, we tailor our services around our client’s personal needs and preferences. Our design team will collaborate and work with you to conceptualize your special day as our goal is to curate a beautifully designed experience with seamless execution. Each element is carefully crafted, and the most thoughtful details are applied. We make sure all elements enhance the overall design to make it visually appealing and bring a high level of artistic direction. Our wedding team will be onsite styling every detail and managing our supplier partners, along with guiding you graciously to orchestrate the perfect day.

· Creation of the decor deck that includes color combinations, themes, inspiration/design concepts for every detail of the big day!
· Schedule and attend meetings with service providers based on client’s needs (i.e. caterer, hotel/venue, florist, photographer, videographer, specialty décor partners, custom fabrication partners, invitation designers, ceremony musicians, DJ/musical talent, lighting, AV production and wedding cakes)
· Schedule and attend floral mockup
· Provide referrals for wedding gowns and tuxedos
· Assist with invitation wording and selection of stationery for Save the Date Cards and Invitations
· Provide a complete breakdown of all vendor costs in a comprehensive budget
· Assist with wedding favors, gifts and welcome totes
· Provide hotel accommodation options + negotiate and contract group room blocks
· Set-up and attend tasting with catering manager and client
· Review and proof banquet event order provided by catering manager
· Create a wedding day timeline
· Distribute Client- approved timeline to all vendors, confirm arrival and end times, including strike time and communicate venue’s policies and procedures
· Confirm and update all vendor orders and quantities on rental items
· Assist Officiant and orchestrate ceremony rehearsal with bridal party and family
· Confirm with musicians on ceremony song selections and cueing musicians for a flawless ceremony
· Communicate and manage banquet staff by providing updates on any necessary changes
· Attend sound check with band musicians/ or DJ and review formalities and song selections and pronunciations
· Direct family/ushers with seating and program distribution
· Assist with accessories such as setting up seating cards, menu cards, table numbers, favors, sign-in guest book, etc.
· Work with band musicians/DJ to create a seamless flow for the event
· Provide marriage license information
· Coordinate final payments and gratuities to suppliers
· Wedding assistants are required for weddings based on head count and ceremony/ reception locations.

MISSY SLAY
PRINCIPAL
Since founding the company in 1999, Missy has produced large-scale events including three Final Fours, presidential inauguration events, city-wide music festivals, marathons and NFL Draft events. Slay also specializes in non-profit galas and corporate meetings and events.
Known for her attention to detail and creativity, Slay prides herself on client loyalty and a commitment to their success. She has earned a reputation of delivering first-class experiences for her clients that wow their attendees. Missy possesses a great work ethic, but also realizes the importance of work life balance.
So, when not producing an event, Missy enjoys traveling, visiting California wine country, checking out new restaurants, golfing and hanging at any beach where the sun is shining and waves are crashing.

Kevin Covey
SENIOR EVENT PRODUCER
Kevin Covey has been planning events for over two decades. He opened a successful wedding & event planning company in 1999 and only recently closed it when he decided to join the SLAY Events team full time after seven years of an independent partnership. During his tenure, Kevin has produced events ranging from 20 to 5,000 guests and everything in between. Kevin is a certified wedding consultant from the Association of Bridal Consultants and has extensive experience in multi-cultural weddings.
His favorite part of the event planning process is to see events come to life from pre-planning stages to event day. He guides clients throughout the planning process making recommendations for the event that reflects the client needs. He prides himself on being patient, honest and a good listener as great communication is key. His goal is to listen to his client’s ideas and thoughts about their event and then bring to the table innovated concepts that can truly create an exceptional experience.
Kevin has been featured on several reality TV series highlighting his extraordinary wedding and event planning production.

In addition to his busy TV appearance schedule, Kevin also partnered with the beverage brand Kahlua and Gourmet Magazine as their national spokesperson and had the opportunity to tour various Macy‘s throughout Southern California as a host providing tips of the trade on how to throw an unforgettable soirée.
Kevin was the LA-OC Chapter President for Wish Upon A Wedding from 2010-2013, which is the world’s first nonprofit wedding wish granting organization, dedicated to producing weddings to terminally ill individuals or those with life altering circumstances. He was the Co-Director of Administration for The Association of Bridal Consultants Orange County from 2012-2014. Kevin was presented with the Coordinator of the Year Award along with the Joannie Scott Award which honors drive, dedication, and passion in the wedding and event industry both by the Association of Bridal Consultants.

LUCY CHAO
EVENT PRODUCER
Having spent time on both the East and West coasts, Lucy quickly discovered her passion for creativity + designing experiential events, and curating unique, out-of-the-box guest experiences during her time in Boston.
As a Boston University graduate, Lucy received a degree in Hospitality Administration to expand her knowledge in the event industry and solidified her passion for events and experiences. Her diverse experiences in hospitality led her to have a thorough understanding of all sectors from food & beverage, entertainment, nightlife, and marketing to events.
Lucy’s professional roles range from having managed the acclaimed SUGARFISH restaurant in Los Angeles, worked at a an exclusive members-only social club and interned for an entertainment and nightlife company in NYC and for special events and catering companies in LA, truly diversifying her skillset across the country. She also focused on project management, production and event execution for an experiential advertising and marketing company working locally as well as internationally. She has also been in the DMC industry for the past four years and has extensive experience with corporate events and experiences. Lucy is constantly expanding her knowledge of current trends and loves to be bold and daring with her ideation creation.

Nina Rose Mead
EVENT PRODUCER
Nina has been a passionate member of the theatrical community for the past 7 years and has recently made her transition over to the world of events. Known for her whimsical creativity and dedication to detail, Nina strives to bring both fun and perfection to all work she produces.
As a graduate from The Conservatory of Theater Arts at Webster University, with a degree in Stage Management. Nina utilizes her hands on education experiences in the fast-paced world of theater production and event management to succeed in quick thinking, problem solving, and attention to detail in all capacities of live events.
Nina's professional roles range from having managed at the acclaimed John F. Kennedy Center of Performing arts, including events such as the broadcasted 2019 Mark Twain and Kennedy Center Honors Award Shows, and the New Visions New Voices Festival in conjunction to the National Theater for Young Audiences Convention. Nina has also worked with Capital Concerts to put on the national broadcast of the National Fourth of July and Memorial celebrations in Washington D.C. In addition to her stage and event management experience, Nina has led the Covid Compliance efforts for many events and theater touring productions. Nina originally reigns from Baltimore, but has done stints in San Antonio, St. Louis, and Los Angeles. Nina's whimsical creativity makes an appearance in her personal life as well within her hobbies of rebuilding Hot Rods and salsa dancing in her free time.
